Gratitude
Why being grateful is helpful for over all well-being...
Exercise:
One of the easiest ways to start feeling grateful, is to practice gratitude.
Each morning, close your eyes, and think of five different things in your life that you are grateful for. (a roof over your head, a few good friends, you have a job, etc.) It really can be anything.
Say them to yourself with a smile on your face. Now at first, it may feel weird or seem silly to do this, but see how you feel after about a week. The more you do this, the easier it becomes. Take note of any differences you may see in yourself!
Each day jot down five things you are grateful for, but most importantly, write down how you feel as you mention the five grateful things. This will bring awareness to your TRUE feelings about them. Are you REALLY grateful, or just saying the words? Try to choose the things you are TRULY grateful for.
You may find, that over time, you find enjoyment in thinking about all you DO have, which may put a little uplifting step into your day.
When we can appreciate what we have, and acknowledge the treasures we already have in life, we can further enrich our lives! When we are grateful, we tend to feel better about ourselves, and in life in general.
Grateful people are happier, more kind to others, less depressed, less anxious, less stressed, and enjoy life more!
Feeling grateful gives us the ability to sleep better, perform better at work, and are better equipped to handle life challenging moments.
