What is Depression?
Depression can be an illness, or mental condition that creates negativity within the body. It can affect how you think and act, but also how you feel. Depression can make a person feel sad, inadequate, and hopeless, while affecting sleep patterns, eating habits, and energy levels.
What Causes Depression?
There are many factors that can cause depression, including: chemical imbalances in the body, trauma, medications, major life changing events, illnesses, and substance abuse. Everyone is different, so the cause of someone's depression, may be very unique to the individual.
How Can Depression Build?
For the most part, it starts with an event, like a chemical imbalance inside, a traumatic event, chronic illness, etc, but this can lead to an ongoing depressive state, when the individual holds on to the negative feeling. Life isn't easy, and there are always challenges to face in life, but sometimes we feel as if we are the only ones feeling the way we do. The more we allow ourselves to feel separated, the more the depression can build inside.
How Can This Program Help?
The basis of this program is to help you tap into your own inner strength, confidence, courage, happiness and joy. The more you are able to tap in, the more you will feel the desire to reach out to others. Feeling connected and integrated with others is extremely helpful in conquering depression, since their connection allows you to feel happiness inside. Once you start to feel happiness, the desire to be more happy can start to take control. The most difficult part for a depressed person will be having the desire to continue. This is why the program is geared to be VERY simple. Do what you can, and when you can. The more you do the work, the easier it all becomes.

- Start jotting down all the things in life that make you happy. Think about all the things you like to do, what makes you laugh, what makes you feel important. Then be diligent about adding one or more of these back into your life.
- Start jotting down all the things that make you fearful and scared. Bringing awareness to these ideas will give you a better opportunity to recognize them as they come up. This can lead you into changing how you look at negative situations.
