Welcome to:
IT STARTS WITH YOU WELLNESS®®: PROVIDING TOOLS TO HELP YOU "TRAIN YOUR BRAIN" TO YOUR PERSONAL WELL-BEING... Yoga and meditationYoga and Meditation are great ways to find peace when suffering from anxiety. For those of you new to yoga and meditation, please allow yourself to get rid of the stigma you may have that only people who are flexible can do yoga, and that meditation is some sort of crazy 'voodoo' thing. Both yoga and meditation teaches us to connect the mind with the body by using the breath as the guide to help you learn to relax.
Since many of us are different, one way may not be the only way. There are some who may benefit from meditation alone, others may benefit from a gentle, and meditative style of yoga, (movement with breath), while some others may need to "get the energy out" by using a more aggressive style of yoga. |
FOCUS AND MINDFULNESSBeing Mindful is nothing more than being aware. It is easily attained by focusing in on something, and enjoy being in that "present moment". We can focus on our breath, or on an object (like the ocean waves) and enjoy the beauty of being truly "here". But even though we know HOW, getting it done can be difficult, especially when you have anxiety, and a continuous bombardment of thoughts.
The techniques used in this site can teach you how to use mindfulness and focus techniques to "train your brain" to release the thoughts which can ultimately reduce tension. Tension can lead to sensations which can ultimately lead into fears. These techniques can help you stop these fears in their tracks, to more easily avoid a panic attack. If you are like many, you may have developed "habits" of fear that your body has accepted and may take as the norm. These techniques can help you create NEW habits of release and relaxation which, over time, can replace those old habits for better well-being. It takes time for your mind to break the old habits, but slowly, you can peel away these layers to get you to a point to feel the relief you've been craving. |
NUTRITION
Nutritional habits are important not only for your physical health, but also for our mental health. Food is medicine. The right foods can help you, and the wrong foods can harm you. It's as simple as that. Learn about foods that may increase anxiety, as well as those that may help deplete it. Learn which foods are helpful, and browse our recipe section for mouth watering ways to get healthy on the inside and out!
As a Holistic Nutritionist, my program of getting back to the basics will help you realize the need for good food and to get on track with nutrition. As you start to feel better the body will reward you with more energy, and mood enhancement!

What this website can do for you
This website can help you learn ways to cope and manage your anxieties. But, please note: If you are currently seeing a therapist, you need to continue to see one. If you are currently on medication, you need to continue to stay on it. This site is to be used as an adjunct, and to just add that additional layer of support. We are all different, so understand that the timing of feeling relief will be different amongst people. Just know it will take time, and allow for that. Don't be discouraged! Realize that as you incorporate more healthy habits into your life, you will eliminate the negative habits. The more you practice these techniques, the easier they become, and the quicker you can feel the benefits. Just be patient with yourself. Give yourself the time, and your body will thank you!
